Non è facile essere una principessa Disney nel ventunesimo secolo: il ricordo dell'Età dell'Oro, sinonimo di una qualità perduta nel tempo eppure incapace di dialogare col presente abbandonando la cornice del classico è un'eredità pesante come un macigno, minacciosa e diffidente nei confronti di un approccio che tenti di proporsi come nuovo e fresco.

La Frizzante Rapunzel di Tangled e la rossa ribelle Merida di Brave( tecnicamente figlia della Pixar ma di fatto "adottata" dalla Disney in virtù del comune tramite rappresentato da John Lasseter)avevano già dimostrato che assecondare il più smaliziato gusto contemporaneo senza eclissare la propria dignità e identità è ancora possibile, grazie a un'idea di amore universale che sappia guardare al di là del cavallo bianco del Principe consacrando definitivamente un agognato e sacrosanto desiderio di emancipazione.

Appena approdate in sala, le principesse sorelle Elsa ed Anna riescono persino a fare di meglio delle due precedenti colleghe: diretto  da Chris Buck e Jennifer Lee, prima donna alla regia di un lungometraggio d'animazione, grazie al ponte ghiacciato costruito con cautela fra passato e futuro Frozen riesce a restituire al Canone vitalità ed energia, imparando dagli errori di ciò che è stato e raggiungendo vette (innevate) decisamente inaspettate.
