Dopo il grande successo al National Theatre di Londra nel 2011, la versione del mito creato da Mary Shelley secondo Nick Dear(scrittore di teatro ma anche sceneggiatore dei film per la tv Byron e Persuasion), con Benedict Cumberbatch e Johnny Lee Miller a interpretare alternativamente il ruolo del Dottore e della sua creatura ha visitato moltissime sale cinematografiche in Europa e nel mondo, ma solo quando ormai si erano perse le speranze la Nexo Digital ha finalmente reso possibile una distribuzione italiana.
